THE UNDERGROUND CONCOURSE |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
This includes the rectangular concourse plus the passage leading north towards the escalators to/from the mainline concourse. Note that the passage to the taxi rank and car park leads east from the north end of this passage.
The rectangular space is divided into two by the gate line which starts near the northwest corner before running east, south then east. The walkway between the ticket sales area and gate line is a continuation of the passage which leads north from the taxi rank and car park, past the foot of the escalators from the mainline concourse, towards the ticket machines and sales windows which are to your left (west) of the gate line. Another walkway, along the south side of the concourse, leads to the suburban section, platforms 8 - 11 of the mainline station.
The escalators from the Mainline concourse go down to the west, up east. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need.
Alternatively, you can go down Steps between the escalators; go down three, 17, 17 and eight steps, going west, into the passage.
See the Lifts page for details. As you leave the lifts, you're on the left-hand (west) side of the passage, facing the gate line, move to the right-hand side, unless you need a ticket, and continue towards the entrance gates.
