THE PLATFORMS |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
There are four separate platforms, running east/west, numbered 1 to 4 from north to south.
Platform 1, London Underground Eastbound, runs along the north edge of the station. There are two exits via stairs from the concourse and one entrance. The entrance is in line with the platform, whilst the exits are offset to the north, reached via short passages leading from the platform. The west exit leads from the foot of the steps at the entrance. The east exit is offset north of the platform, in line with the west exit and is reached via a short passage leading from the platform behind (east of) the entrance steps.
Platform 2, London Underground Westbound, is reached via stairs from the concourse. These stairs are divided into two sections and we believe you're meant to keep right.
Platform 3, FCC Southbound, this is adjacent to platform 2, but about 1.5 metres lower, so we can't count this as an island platform. This is reached via short flights of steps from platform 2.
Platform 4, FCC Northbound, runs along the south edge of the station. This is reached by stairs from the concourse, again, these are divided into two sections, keep right.
The west bridge, joins all platforms, looking at the signage, we were given to understand that the official way to reach platform 4 from the concourse was to go along platform 2 to the west bridge and go to platform 4 from there. In retrospect, we think people just go down the steps from the concourse.
The stairs between the platforms and concourse are divided into two sections by a central rail, we understand you're meant to keep right. The exception to this is platform 1, where there are two exits and an entrance.
Stairs join the concourse to the platforms as follows:
Temporary hoarding extended from the west end of the platform beyond the west bridge. We'll report features from our original survey until we know what has changed.
