FIND A PLATFORM FROM AN ENTRANCE

Describe Online

Overview

There is stairs, lift and ramp access between the concourse and street level at the South Entrance, from Green Park and Piccadilly South. There is stairs-only access to the concourse from other entrances.

The West Entrance was closed at the time of our survey. We understand this will be available by 30 November 2011.

There is lift and escalator access between the concourse and all platforms. See the Lifts page for details.

There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

From Which Entrance?

From the South Exit, From Piccadilly South Side and Green Park
From the West Exit, From Piccadilly South Side
From the Northwest Exit, From Stratton Street
From the Northwest Exit, From Piccadilly, North Side

From the West Exit on Piccadilly South Side

Go down two flights of stairs and follow the passage, up six steps into the concourse. The ticket machines and sales windows are to your left and the gates in front of you.

Continue to the Gates

From the South Exit, From Piccadilly South Side and Greem Park

See the Environs page for details.

If you use the ramp, continue down the slope into the concourse.

If you use the stairs, go down two flights of steps, then turn right into the concourse.

If you use Lift A, go down to Level -1, concourse level, leave via the same doors and turn left into the concourse.

The ticket sales machines and windows are on your left, beyond the passage to the West Exit, and the gate line is to your right.

Continue to the Gates

From the Northwest Exit, From Stratton Street

Go up one step, turn right then go down a flight of stairs, go down four, then seven steps into the concourse. The ticket machines and sales windows are to your right (1 o'clock), the gates are to your left.

Continue to the Gates

From the Piccadilly North Entrance

Go down a flight of steps, turn left then left again, down seven steps into the concourse. The ticket machines and sales windows are to your right (1 o'clock), the gates are to your left.

The gate line runs across the concourse. There are two sets of gates separated by a central pillar. As you face the gate line, those to your right are for the Jubilee and Victoria lines, whilst the gates to your left are for the Piccadilly Line. If you get it wrong, you can cut across behind the gates, though the crowds may not like it (smile!)

To Which Platform?

  To the Jubilee Line
To the Piccadilly Line
To the Victoria Line

To the Jubilee Line

Locate the right hand set of gates. There's a Wide Aisle Gate at each end of this section of the gate line, we believe the left-hand one is the entrance. The automatic entrances are in the middle of this set of gates. Go through the gates.

Via the Escalators

Continue forward, you're aiming for the right-hand of two passages leaving the concourse in front of you. If you find escalators to your right, go left; if you find escalators in front of you, go right.

Go into the passage and turn right. As the right-hand escalator is normally the one you need, you should keep right here. Go down to the intermediate level, continue, from the foot of the escalator, along a passage which veers left before you reach the second set of escalators. Again, the right-hand escalator is normaly the one you need. Go down to the Jubilee Line level.

Continue forward from the foot of the escalators. For platform 5, northbound, take the first passage on your right, onto the platform. You're towards the front of the train. For platform 6, southbound, take the second or third passage on your left, onto the platform. You're about in the middle of the train.

GO TO END

Via the Lifts

Turn right, immediately after going through the gates and go through the door in front of you. Turn right then take the turning left and find the doors to lifts C then B on your left.

Go down to Level -3, leave via the other doors then follow the passage which bears left before you take the turning right.

Continue, up the slope, then take the turning right and follow the passage, at least 200 metres. The passage veers right before you reach the door to Lift E, to the Jubilee Line on your right. Go down to platform level and leave via the other door. You'll have to walk forwards a few metres, through another open door before you reach the passage between the platforms. Turn left for the northbound, platform 5, you're beside the rear half of the train, right for the southbound, platform 6, you're beside the front half of the train.

GO TO END

To the Piccadilly Line

Via the Escalators

Move to the left hand set of gates. There's a Wide Aisle Gate at to the right of the pillar, which we believe is an entrance, the automatic entrances are to your left of the pillar, go through the gates.

Continue forward to the escalators, which leave from the far left corner of the concourse, in front of you. The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go down to the Piccadilly Line level.

Continue forward from the foot of the escalators. For the westbound, platform 1, continue straight into the passage and follow the wall in front of you to your right, then left onto the platform, you're at the front of the train. For the eastbound, platform 2, cross the central reservation to your left, then turn right into the passage, follow the wall in front of you to your left, then right onto the platform, you're at the rear of the train.

GO TO END

Via the Lifts

The lifts from the concourse are inside the right-hand end of the gate line, so we suggest you use the right-hand set of gates. Locate the right hand set of gates. There's a Wide Aisle Gate at each end of this section of the gate line, we believe the left-hand one is the entrance. The automatic entrances are in the middle of this set of gates. Go through the gates.

Turn right, immediately after going through the gates and go through the door in front of you. Turn right then take the turning left and find the doors to lifts C then B on your left.

Go down to Level -3, leave via the other doors then follow the passage which bears left before you take the turning right.

Follow this passage, up the slope, ideally keeping right, though you're looking for the first turning left, towards the lift.

Take the first turning left and locate the door to Lift D, on your right after a few metres. Go down to platform level then leave via the other doors. Platform 1, westbound is to your right, you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 2, eastbound is to your left, you're beside the front half of the train.

GO TO END

To the Victoria Line

Locate the right hand set of gates. There's a Wide Aisle Gate at each end of this section of the gate line, we believe the left-hand one is the entrance. The automatic entrances are in the middle of this set of gates. Go through the gates.

Go through the gates and turn right towards the escalators and lifts.

Via the Escalators

The escalators are to your left of the door to the lifts, in front of you. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go down to the Victoria Line level.

Continue forward from the foot of the escalator. For platform 3, northbound, take either the second or third passage to your right onto the platform, you're about in the middle of the train. For platform 4, southbound, take the first passage to your left onto the platform, you're about in the middle of the train.

Via the Lifts

If you turn right immediately after going through the gates, the door to the lifts is in front of you. Go through this door, turn right then take the turning left and find the doors to lifts C then B on your left.

Go down to Level -2, Victoria Line, leave via the other doors then turn left and continue to the T-Junction in front of you. Turn left for platform 3, northbound, you're before the front of the train. turn right for platform 4, southbound, you're behind the rear of the train.
