FIND THE EXIT FROM A PLATFORM

Describe Online

Overview

There is one exit from this station which is reached via the bridge and concourse. The bridge is reached via steps near the middle of each platform.

There are two sets of steps from platform 1, but only one set from platforms 2 - 3 and 4. Note that the steps from platform 4 are very narrow and it may be easier to walk beyond the front of the train and turn right onto platforms 2 - 3.

There is no tactile paving along the edge of the platforms.

From Which Platform?

  From Platform 1, Westbound
From Platform 2, Eastbound
From Platform 3, Terminus
From Platform 4, Terminus

From Platform 1, Westbound

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train.

There are two sets of steps from this platform to the bridge, each of which juts out into the platform. From either end of the train, move towards the other, following the wall until you locate a set of steps. Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge. If you were moving towards the front of the train, turn right, otherwise left.

If you need the manual gate, follow the right-hand side until you locate the gate to your right. Go through the gate and continue through the concourse and shopping mall, to the exit.

Otherwise, follow the left-hand side, beyond the gap towards steps down to platforms 2 - 3 before moving to your right to locate the automatic exit gates. Go through the gates and continue, through the concourse and shopping mall, to the exit.

GO TO END

From Platform 2, Eastbound

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train.

From Platform 3, Terminus

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train.

The steps to the bridge, leave from the middle of the island platform, beside the front half of the train. There is only one set of steps going up in the direction of the train. There are two significant structures on this island platform, one, nearer the front of the train, is the building around the steps, whilst the other, nearer the rear, is the waiting room.

Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge, the gate line is in front of you with the manual gate at the right-hand end and the automatic exits to the left.

Go through the gates and continue, through the concourse and shopping mall, to the exit.

GO TO END

From Platform 4, Terminus

This platform is seldom used but, at the time of our survey, there were problems on the District Line, so some trains were starting and terminating at this platform. We're also told that it is sometimes used during peak hours.

A narrow set of steps leaves beside the front half of the train, though this can become congested and it may be easier to go beyond the front of the train onto platforms 2 - 3.

Via Steps from Platform 4

There is one significant structure on this platform, the building around the steps. A metal rail runs along the right-hand side of the platform, beside track 3, though you can walk past the steps on either side.

Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge and turn right. As you follow the left-hand side, you locate the automatic exit gates, then the entrances and the manual gate is at the far end of the gate line.

Go through the gates and continue, through the concourse and shopping mall, to the exit.

GO TO END

Via Platforms 2 - 3

Follow the right-hand side of the platform, beyond the front of the train and follow the rail, which turns right, beyond the end of track 3, then turn right again onto the island platform. Continue forward. The first major structure is a square building, not for public use, whilst the second is the building around the steps, which go up from the far side. Locate the steps and go up two flights to the bridge. The gate line is in front of you, with the automatic exit gates at the left-hand end of the gate line and the manual gate to the right. Go through the gates and continue, through the concourse and shopping mall, to the exit.
