There are four gate lines within this station:

• in the Western Concourse
• in the Level -2 section of the Tube Concourse,
• in the Northern Concourse and
• at the Pentonville Road exit.

Whilst the direction of some of these gates may vary according to the time of day, in general the left-hand gates are normally the ones you need.

There's a pillar in the middle of the gate line in the Western Concourse, whilst the Level -2 section of the Tube Concourse is divided into entrance and exit areas by a barrier.

The Pentonville Road exit has one manual gate at the north end of the gate line followed by four automatic gates.

The gate line in the Northern Concourse is an L-shape, with the gates leading south being mainly entrances, whilst those leading west are exits.
