The NORTHERN CONCOURSE

Describe Online

Overview

This is the new section of the station at Level -1. It includes the new passage from the Tube Concourse, The Northern Concourse itself and the passage leading to St Pancras Station.

The passage between the Tube and Northern concourses, which we'll call the Level -1 passage leads north, past the new entrance from King's Cross Mainline Station, to the Northern Concourse.

The Northern Concourse is an almost rectangular shape with a piece removed from the northwest corner. The passage from the Tube Concourse and the escalators to Level -2 are on the south side, the ticket sales facilities are on the north and the passage towards St Pancras Station leaves from the Northwest. There is stairs and lift access between here and the suburban section of King's Cross Station. The gate line forms an L-shape within this space so that the gates leading south are mainly entrances, whilst those leading west are exits.

The passage to St Pancras provides stairs, escalator and lift access to Level 0 and Level 1 of St Pancras Station.

The Level -1 Passage

From the Tube Concourse, you go up a ramp, through a set of normally open fire doors. then down a series of small ramps towards the Northern Concourse itself.

The entrance/exit to King’s Cross Mainline Station is at the foot of the first ramp down.

The passage is divided into two by a central rail and there’s a rail to each side. We’re asked to keep left. Note that there are breaks in the rails at the landings in the ramp.
