CHANGE PLATFORMS

DESCRIBE ONLINE

From Central to Metropolitan Line

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. There is no tactile paving along the edge of these platforms.

Via the Underground Concourse

From the eastbound (platform 4) go towards the rear of the train, ideally go through the second passage from the end of the platform and turn right towards the escalators.

From the westbound (platform 5), go towards the front of the train and, ideally, go through the first passage from the end of the platform and turn left towards the escalators.

The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go up to concourse level and follow the right-hand side of the concourse, which curves to your left.

For the eastbound, platform 2, take the first turning right, down three steps onto the platform you're towards the rear of the train.

For the westbound, platform 1, continue to the second turning on your right, go up three flights of steps onto the west bridge and continue down the flight of steps in front of you. From here, you can turn right and go down a flight of steps towards the front of the train, or turn left and go down two flights of steps to platform level.

From the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan Lines

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There is some tactile paving along the edge of these platforms, but not as distinct as the modern variety.

From the Westbound, Platform 1

There are four sets of steps going up from this platform:

We therefore suggest you move towards the front of the train (not too far) and go up either set of steps onto the west bridge.

If you're going in the opposite direction to the train, go up one flight of steps then turn left, otherwise, go up two flights of eight steps and turn right.

If you now go up four steps, you're on the central bridge, you may as well continue anyway, down two flights of steps into the Underground Concourse, turn left and continue towards the far end of the concourse and follow the left-hand side, which curves right towards the escalators.

If you go up ten steps, you're on the west bridge, continue down three flights of steps into the Underground concourse, turn left and follow the left-hand side, which curves right, towards the escalators.

There are three escalators, of which the left-hand is normally the one you need. A rail juts (south) into the concourse just right of the left-hand escalator to separate the entrance and exit areas of this space. Go down the escalator in front of you. At the bottom, the eastbound (platform 4) is to your left, you're at the rear of the train, whilst the westbound (platform 5) is to your right, you're at the front of the train.

GO TO END

From the Eastbound, Platform 2

The easiest route is via the exit nearest the rear of the train which brings you along the left-hand (west) side of the concourse. Whichever opening you go through, you'd go up three steps into the concourse, turn left, continue to the wall at the end of the concourse, turn right and continue towards the escalators.
