FIND AN EXIT FROM A PLATFORM
There is stairs-only access from each platform to the concourse and between the concourse and street level. See the Environs page for details of exits from this station.
These directions are limited to Monument Station so as not to duplicate the information in our guide to Bank Station.
The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There is no tactile paving along the edge of either platform.
Note also that the section of platform near the front of eastbound (rear of westbound) trains is narrower than the rest of the platform.
From Platform 1, Westbound|
From Platform 2, Eastbound
As you go from the front of the train, you pass three pillars in the middle of the platform and a series of doors on your right before you reach the recessed area to the exit. There are two pillars, dividing this into three gaps, ideally, you should turn right into the third of these gaps.
As you go from the rear of the train, the section of platform beside the rear car is narrower than the rest of the platform. You then pass a series of seats and two pillars in the middle of the platform before you reach the left turn for the exit. This gap is divided into three by two pillars, ideally you should turn into the first gap.
The steps to the concourse are now to your left. Turn left and go up a flight of steps. Turn right then turn right again and go up another flight into the concourse. From here, you can turn left for the Wide Aisle exit then turn left again for Fish Street Hill. If you want the subway, you may as well go through the gates to your left then turn right and follow the left-hand side of the concourse, which veers right till you reach the turning left into the subway.
GO TO END
As you go from the front of the train, the section of platform beside the front car is narrower than the rest of the platform. Having reached the wider section of platform, you pass three sets of seats before you reach the right turn for the exit.
As you go from the rear of the train, you pass two sets of seats. The first turning left is the entrance, continue to the second turning.
Turn away from the platform then turn left and go up a flight of steps. Turn left then go up seven steps into the concourse. From here, you can continue forward through the Wide Aisle exit then turn left for Fish Street Hill.
If you want the subway, you could turn right. The section of gates in front of you has a luggage gate at the right-hand end, followed by automatic entrances then exits at the left-hand end. Go through the gates then turn right towards the subway. Otherwise, you could go through the Wide Aisle gate, mentioned above, then turn right and follow the left-hand side of the concourse, which veers right till you reach the left turning into the subway.
