FIND A PLATFORM FROM AN ENTRANCE

Describe Online

Overview

There are two entrance routes from this station, one from street level via the lower concourse via the east or middle entrance, the other via the Metropolitan Line concourse. As the name suggests, the Metropolitan Line concourse offers the easiest route to platforms 1 - 6, via the bridge, whilst entrance to the other platforms is via the lower concourse.

Whilst you could go from the Metropolitan Line concourse, via the bridge and subway, to other platforms via the lower concourse, this is a tortuous route for little gain at street level, we will therefore disregard this option. We will, however, include the route from the lower concourse to platforms 1 - 6 via the subway.

Note, there is no tactile paving along the edge of any platforms in this station.

From Which Entrance?

From the Metropolitan Line Concourse to Platforms 1 - 6
From the Lower Concourse to All Platforms

From the Metropolitan Line Concourse to Platforms 1 - 6

Note that, we understand, the ticket sales windows in this concourse are permanently closed. So you'll need an Oyster card or valid ticket/pass unless you want to take your chance with the machines.

As you go through the right-hand of the two gaps from the west side of Moorfields, there's a Wide Aisle entrance gate in front of you. If you come in from Moorfields Walk, continue to the wall in front of you then turn left towards the Wide Aisle entrance. Go through the gates and continue to the wall in front of you.

For Platform 1, Metropolitan Line Eastbound, turn right, go down two flights of steps then turn left and go down a flight of steps onto the platform. Continue forward for a few metres to reach the front of the train.

GO TO END

For platforms 2 - 6, turn left, go down two flights of steps then turn right and go down four steps to platform lefel. Move right for platform 2 - 3, Metropolitan Line westbound, you're near the rear of the train. Platforms 4 - 5 are in front of you at the foot of the steps from the bridge, whilst platform 6 is to your left, turn left, continue to the wall then turn right.

GO TO END

From the Lower Concourse to All Platforms

From the east entrance, continue forward into the concourse. Otherwise, from the middle entrance, turn right.

The first gate line to your right leads towards the escalators to the FCC Stevenage service, platforms 9 - 10, whilst the gate line in front of you leads towards the subway toward the Metropolitan and FCC Bedford services, platforms 1 - 6, plus the stairs and escalators to the Northern Line, platforms 7 - 8. Note that the staircase also offers a stairs-only route to the FCC Stevenage service, platforms 9 - 10.

The ticket sales windows are on your right, beyond the first gate line.

To Which Platform?

To the Metropolitan Line and FCC Bedford Service, Platforms 1 - 6
To the Northern Line, Platforms 7 - 8
To the FCC Stevenage Service, Platforms 9 - 10
To the Metropolitan Line and FCC Bedford Service, Platforms 1 - 6

Continue to the gate line in front of you, there's a manual gate at the right-hand end of this gate line and two entrances to your left of this. Go through the gates, move to your left then continue forward into the passage to the subway. Note that the escalators towards the Northern Line are to your right of this passage.

Continue, down a flight of steps. For platform 1, eastbound, continue, up a flight of steps onto the platform, then continue forward for a few metres to reach the front of the train.

GO TO END

For other platforms, turn left, go down a flight of steps then follow the passage, which veers right then left again before the foot of the next flight of steps. Go up this flight of steps, turn left then go up another flight before turning right (180 degrees) and going up another flight of steps to platform level.

Platforms 2 - 3, Metropolitan Line westbound are in front of you, you're near the rear of the train on platform 2, move forward for platform 3.

Turn left, locate the steps from the bridge on your left, before turning right, towards platforms 4 - 5. For platform 6, continue to the wall then turn right onto the platform.

GO TO END

To the Northern Line, Platforms 7 - 8

Continue to the gate line in front of you, there's a manual gate at the right-hand of this gate line and automatic entrances to your left of this. Go through the gates.

From here, you can either use the escalator plus stairs, or take the stairs-only route.

Via the Escalator

Continue forward, the escalators are in front of you, the right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go down to level 4, take the first turning right and follow the passage to the end. Turn right and go down a flight of steps to platform level. Platform 7, northbound is to your right, you're near the rear of the train. Platform 8, southbound is to your left, you're near the front.

GO TO END

Via the Stairs

Turn right and continue into the short passage to the top of the steps, in front of you. Go down three flights of steps, then continue spiralling clockwise down four flights of steps before turning left and going down another flight of steps to platform level. Platform 7, northbound is to your right, platform 8, southbound to your left. We suggest you go back along the platform you need, to the first passage, as the foot of the steps may be beyond the train.

GO TO END

To the FCC Stevenage Service, Platforms 9 - 10

You can reach these platforms either via the escalator or stairs-only route.

Via the Escalator

At the time of our survey, the third and fourth gates on your right were entrances. If you need the manual gate, you'll have to continue to the gate line in front of you, go through the manual gate at the right end of that gate line, then follow the passage back towards the escalators.

If you used the automatic gates, turn left towards the escalators. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go down to platform level.

Continue forward onto platform 9. For platform 10, go through one of the gaps on your right, onto the platform.

GO TO END

Via the Stairs

Continue to the gate line in front of you, there's a manual gate at the right-hand end of this gate line and automatic entrances to your left of this. Go through the gates, turn right and continue into the short passage to the top of the steps, in front of you. Go down three flights of steps, then continue spiralling clockwise down two flights of steps before turning left. You're behind the rear of the train on platform 10. Follow the wall on your left, at least past the first two gaps. For platform 9, go through one of the gaps onto the platform. Note that the first two gaps from platform 10, do not go through to platform 9.
