THE INTERMEDIATE LEVELS |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
This section of the station consists of the passage from the foot of the steps from the Circle/District Line platforms 1 - 2 and the area between the two sets of escalators. One set leading from the concourse into the intermediate level, the second set leading from the intermediate level to the lower level.
The lower level, which we'll also include in this section, is the passage leading from the foot of the escalators from the intermediate level to steps down to platform 3, westbound and up to platform 4, eastbound Piccadilly Line.
The intermediate level consists of three passages which we'll identify as follows:
The escalators leave from the northeast corner of the concourse, the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. You go down east and continue into passage 2.
Going down, east from platforms 1 - 2, you go down 18 then 16 steps, going east. Going down west, you also go down 18 then 16 steps, into passage 1, which leads south. Each set of steps is divided into two sections by a central rail, we suggest you keep left.
You continue (south), down a slight slope, there's a help point on the left-hand (east) side, before the passage turns right (west).

Passage 2 continues to the wall then turns right south, you go down the slope, there's a help point on your left (east), before you join passage 1 and turn right towards the lower escalators.
You leave passage 1 via the first turning on the left (north) then take the turning left (west) towards the escalator to the concourse. You pass a blank door to your left before you reach the escalator.
The escalator from the intermediate level goes down west into the passage, which is divided into an entrance and exit section by a portable barrier.

The passage to platform 3 leads west, turns right (north), past a noisy ventilation grill on the right, onto the platform, near the front of the train.
The exit passage leads south into the area at the foot of the stairs. Turn left then up 20steps, going east.
At the entrance to Platform 4, go up 17 steps, going north, then continue north onto the platform, you're about in the middle of the train.
