THE INTERMEDIATE LEVELS

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

This section of the station consists of the passage from the foot of the steps from the Circle/District Line platforms 1 - 2 and the area between the two sets of escalators. One set leading from the concourse into the intermediate level, the second set leading from the intermediate level to the lower level.

The lower level, which we'll also include in this section, is the passage leading from the foot of the escalators from the intermediate level to steps down to platform 3, westbound and up to platform 4, eastbound Piccadilly Line.

The intermediate level consists of three passages which we'll identify as follows:

  1. From the foot of the steps from platforms 1 - 2 to the top of the escalators to the lower level;
  2. from the foot of the down escalator from the concourse to passage 1 and
  3. from passage 1 to the foot of the upward escalator from the intermediate level to the concourse.

To Reach

From the Concourse

The escalators leave from the northeast corner of the concourse, the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. You go down east and continue into passage 2.

From the Circle and District Lines

Going down, east from platforms 1 - 2, you go down 18 then 16 steps, going east. Going down west, you also go down 18 then 16 steps, into passage 1, which leads south. Each set of steps is divided into two sections by a central rail, we suggest you keep left.
