The station is located between Waterloo East Station, to the northwest and the northwest corner of the junction of Blackfriars Road (north/south), The Cut (southwest) and Union Street (northeast).
There are four entrances/exits to this station, the northwest entrance is level access from the subway of Waterloo East Station, whilst the others are into the east (main) concourse.
The building surrounding the east concourse is curved, with two entrances, so that one (east) entrance faces onto Blackfriars Road, whilst the other (southwest) faces along The Cut. The street level entrance to the lift is on the west side of Blackfriars Road, a few metres north of the east entrance.
The steps from the east and southwest entrances, each divided into two sections by a central rail, converge onto a landing from which a single flight of steps, also divided into two by a central rail, continues into the east concourse.
You go down 15 steps from either entrance to the landing. There’s a pillar between the two sections at this level, you then go down seven steps, going northwest, into the concourse.
The street level entrance to the lift is from a recess on the west side of Blackfriars Road, a few metres beyond (north of) the east entrance. See the lifts page for more details.
There’s a sounder at this junction and a crossing at each arm, with tactile paving throughout. Note that the sounder was quite quiet at the time of our survey and you may struggle to hear it under heavy traffic conditions. At the time of our survey, there appeared to be rotating cones to your right as you cross each arm of the junction in either direction.
This is a single-stage crossing with a post with push button to each side as you cross in either direction.

This is a narrower, single-stage crossing with a post with push button to your right as you cross in either direction.
