As you come into the station, the ticket sales windows are to your right, the gate line is in front of you. The right-hand gates are generally the ones you need, with the Wide Aisle entrance at the right-hand end of the gate line. Go through the gates.

Follow the right-hand side of the concourse and continue down the slope into the Middle Subway.

To Platforms 3 - 5

The first turning left is to steps to platforms 3 (Central Line westbound) and 5 (Mainline to Liverpool Street), whilst the first turning right leads to the lift to these platforms.

Via the Steps

You go up two flights of steps to platform level. Platform 3 (Central Line) is to your left, whilst platform 5, (Mainline) is to your right, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

Continue to the end of the short passage, the call button is on the wall to your left of the door. Go up to platform level and leave via the other door. Platform 3 (Central Line) is to your right, platform 5 (Mainline) to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train.

To Platforms 6 - 8

The second turning right leads to steps up to platforms 6 (Central Line eastbound) and 8 (Mainline to Shenfield), whilst the second turning left leads to the lift to these platforms.

You go up three flights of steps to platform level. Platform 6 (Central Line) is to your right, platform 8 (Mainline) to your left, we believe you're about in the middle of the train.

The call button is on the wall to your right of the door. Go up to platform level and leave via the same door. Platform 6, (Central Line) is to your right, platform 8 (Mainline) to your left, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train.

To the Anglia Mainline, Platforms 9 - 10

The third turning right leads to steps to platforms 9 - 10, whilst the third turning left is the lift to these platforms.

Via the Steps

You go up two flights of steps to platform level. Platform 9, westbound is to you right, platform 10, eastbound to your left. We believe you're about in the middle of the train.

The call button is to your left of the door. Go up to platform level and leave via the same door. Platform 9, westbound is to your right, platform 10, eastbound to your left. We believe you're beside the front half of westbound, or rear half of eastbound trains.

To the Stansted Express, Platforms 10A - 11

The fourth turning right leads to the steps to platforms 10A - 11, whilst lift access is via the East Subway.

Via the Steps

Go into the passage which turns right. Take the second turning left and go up four flights of steps to platform level. You're at the beginning of platform 11, move right, avoiding a girder and other obstacles, onto platform 10A. At the time of our survey, it wasn't clear whether these platforms were used bi-directionally.

Via the Lift

Take the fifth turning right and continue to the end of the passage, the steps up to platform 12 are in front of you. Take the turning right then continue, past steps to platform 11 and find the two lifts on your left. The first lift is to platform 11, whilst the second is to platform 10A.

For Platform 10A, the call button is to your left of the door. Go up to platform level, leave via the same door and turn left for platform 10A.

For platform 11, the call button is to your right of the door. Go up to platform level, leave via the same door and turn right onto platform 11.

At the time of our survey, it wasn't clear whether these platforms were being used bi-directionally.

To the Stanstead Express, Platform 12

The fourth turning right leads to the steps to platform 12, whilst lift access is via platform 1.

Via the Steps

Continue into the passage, the steps to platform 12 are in front of you. Go up four flights of steps to platform level. You're at the west end of the platform. At the time of our survey it wasn't clear whether this platform was being operated bi-directionally.

Via the Lift

The lift to platforms 1 - 2 is the last (third) lift on your left. The call button is to your right of the door. Go up to platform level, leave via the other door then turn right (180 degrees) onto platform 1. Continue to the end of platform 1, down the first section of the ramp. Turn right (180 degrees) down the second half of the ramp then turn left onto platform 12. You're about in the middle of the platform.

At the time of our survey, it wasn't clear whether this platform was being used bi-directionally.

To the London Overground, Platforms 1 - 2

The steps to the London Overground platforms 1 - 2, are in the middle of the passage to the East Subway, that is beyond the fifth turning on your right. The lift is on your left, opposite the second half of this passage.

Via the Steps

You go up three flights of steps onto the island platform, we believe you're about in the middle of the train.

Via the Lift

The call button is to your right of the door. Go up to platform level and leave via the other door. Platform 1 is to your right, platform 2 to your left, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

To the DLR (Stratford Branch), Platforms 4A and 4B

As you go through the gates, the Middle Subway is in front of you. To your left of this are the east lift, steps, escalator and west lift to the Level 1 Walkway. If you use either lift, you go up to Level 1, walkway then leave via the other door.

On reaching the walkway, turn left and continue, through the normally open doors in front of you, onto the DLR (Stratford Branch) platforms 4. there's tactile paving and a definite slope up before you reach these platforms. There's an irregular barrier along the middle of this island platform, separating platform 4A (to your left) from 4B (to your right).

To the Jubilee Line, Platforms 13 - 15

As you go through the gates, the Middle Subway is in front of you. To your left of this are the east lift, steps, escalator and west lift to the Level 1 Walkway. If you use either lift, you go up to Level 1, walkway then leave via the other door.

On reaching the walkway, turn left and continue, over tracks 16 and 17. There's a help point, about in the middle of the bridge, on your left. Beyond this are the east lift, escalator (up only), steps then the west lift to the West Concourse. If you use either lift, go down to Level 0, concourse then leave via the other door. Otherwise, go down two flights of steps into the concourse, we understand you're supposed to keep left.

For platform 13, move to the right-hand side of the concourse and continue forward onto the platform. Platforms 14 - 15 are an island platform to your left. Note that the rear of the train is beyond the end of the rail (platforms 13 and 15), which is some distance from the concourse.

To the DLR (Stratford International Branch), Platforms 16 and 17

For the Southbound, Platform 17

Turn left from the gate line and continue through the gap in the barrier, in front of you. There's extensive tactile paving across this entrance. There's a rail, along the platform, inside the entrance, move to either side of this. We believe you're near the rear of the train.

For the Northbound, Platform 16

As you go through the gates, the Middle Subway is in front of you. To your left of this are the east lift, steps, escalator and west lift to the Level 1 Walkway. If you use either lift, you go up to Level 1, walkway then leave via the other door.

On reaching the walkway, turn left and continue, over tracks 16 and 17. There's a help point, about in the middle of the bridge, on your left. Beyond this are the east lift, escalator (up only), steps then the west lift to the West Concourse. If you use either lift, go down to Level 0, concourse then leave via the other door. Otherwise, go down two flights of steps into the concourse, we understand you're supposed to keep left.

Turn left, continue to the barrier in front of you then turn right and follow this barrier to the entrance, there's significant tactile paving across the entrance. There's a barrier along the middle of the platform inside the entrance, move to either side of this. We believe you're near the front of the train.

From the Level 1 Entrance

As you leave the pavement, the gate line is in front of you, with the Wide Aisle entrance at the right-hand end. We found a single automatic exit to your left of that, followed by the automatic entrances. We found no ticket sales windows at this entrance, though there are ticket machines to your right. There's also a help point to your right of the gate line as you come into the station.

Go through the gates.

The entrance to platform 3A, Central Line westbound, is to your right.

As you follow the left-hand side of the walkway, you pass the east lift, steps, escalator (up only) and west lift to the East Concourse. Beyond this is the help point, then the east lift, escalator (up only) steps and west lift to the West Concourse.

The DLR (Stratford Branch) platforms 4A and 4B are off the far end of the walkway.

To the Central Line Westbound, Platform 3A

Take the turning right and follow the passage, down the slope. The passage turn right. Continue down the slope then turn left onto the platform. We believe you're near the rear of the train.

To the DLR (Stratford Branch), Platforms 4A and 4B

Continue to the far end of the walkway, through the normally open doors in front of you, onto the DLR (Stratford Branch) platforms 4. there's tactile paving and a definite slope up before you reach these platforms. There's an irregular barrier along the middle of this island platform, separating platform 4A (to your left) from 4B (to your right).

To the Mainline, London Overground and Central Line, Platforms 1 - 12

Take either lift or the steps down to the East Concourse. If you use either lift, go down to Level 0, concourse, then leave via the other door.

On reaching the East Concourse, turn left then turn left again, just before you reach the wall in front of you, into the Middle Subway and continue, down the slope.

To Platforms 3 - 5

The first turning left is to steps to platforms 3 (Central Line westbound) and 5 (Mainline to Liverpool Street), whilst the first turning right leads to the lift to these platforms.

The steps to the London Overground platforms 1 - 2, are in the middle of the passage to the East Subway, that is beyond the fifth turning on your right. The lift is on your left, opposite the second half of this passage.

To the Jubilee Line and DLR (Stratford International Branch)Northbound, Platforms 13 - 16

Continue, over tracks 16 and 17. There's a help point, about in the middle of the bridge, on your left. Beyond this are the east lift, escalator (up only), steps then the west lift to the West Concourse. If you use either lift, go down to Level 0, concourse then leave via the other door.

For the Jubilee Line

Move to the right-hand side of the concourse and continue forward onto platform 13. Platforms 14 - 15 are an island platform to your left. Note that the rear of the train is beyond the end of the rail (platforms 13 and 15), which is some distance from the concourse.

To the DLR (Stratford International Branch) Northbound, Platform 16

Turn left, continue to the barrier in front of you then turn right and follow this barrier to the entrance, there's significant tactile paving across the entrance. To the DLR (Stratford International Branch) Southbound, Platform 17

Take either the lift or steps to the East Concourse. If you use either lift, go down to Level 0, concourse and leave via the other door.

Turn right, continue to the barrier in front of you then turn left and follow the barrier to the entrance. There's extensive tactile paving across the entrance and there's a barrier along the middle of the platform, inside the entrance. Move to either side of this barrier, we believe you're near the rear of the train.

From the North Entrance

As you come into the station, the ticket sales windows are to your left and there's a help point to your right of the gate line. The Wide Aisle entrance is at the left-hand end of the gate line, with the automatic entrances to your right of this.

Go through the gates.

The routes to all platforms are on the left-hand side of the concourse, as you move away from the gate line, you pass the lift, up escalator, down escalator then the steps to the Middle Subway. Beyond these is a row of billboards before you reach the lift, down escalator, up escalator then the steps to the West Subway. If you use either lift, go down to Level -1, subway then leave via the other door.

To the Mainline, London Overground and Central Line, Platforms 1 - 12

We suggest you reach these platforms via the Middle Subway. Take the lift, escalator or steps down to Level -1.

As you follow the right-hand side, you pass lifts to platforms 1 - 2, 9 - 10 and 6 - 8, before you reach the steps to platforms 3 - 5.

Following the left-hand side, you pass the first half of the passage to the East Subway, steps to platforms 1 - 2, the second half of the passage to the East Subway, the passage to steps to platforms 10A - 12, steps to platforms 9 - 10 and 6 - 8 before you reach the passage to the lift to platforms 3 - 5.

To Platforms 3 - 5

The last turning right is to steps to platforms 3 (Central Line westbound) and 5 (Mainline to Liverpool Street), whilst the last turning left leads to the lift to these platforms.

We suggest you reach these platforms via the West Subway. Go down to Level -1, subway, via lift, escalator or steps. If you use the lift, leave via the other door. Continue to the end. There are steps up to the West Concourse, in front of you, whilst the lift is to your left of these. See the Lifts page for details of how to operate this lift.

For the Jubilee Line

Move to the right-hand side of the concourse and continue forward onto platform 13. Platforms 14 - 15 are an island platform to your left. Note that the rear of the train is beyond the end of the rail (platforms 13 and 15), which is some distance from the concourse.
