Lines Served

This is a terminus station for the DLR (Stratford Branch), London Overground (Richmond - Stratford) and Jubilee lines. It is also a through station on the DLR (Stratford International Branch),Central Line and mainline services between Liverpool Street, Braintree, Shenfield and Southend.

Layout

This is a large, complex station which is established on three levels:

• Level 0 = street level
• Level -1 = subway level
• Level 1 = platform and Level 1 Walkway

Level 0, Street Level

The original station concourse is divided into two sections by the DLR (Stratford International Branch), which runs north/south. The Main Entrance leads into what we'll call the East Concourse, which is bounded to the west by platform 17, southbound. The other section, which we'll call the West Concourse is bounded to the east by platform 16, northbound.

The Jubilee Line, platforms 13 - 15 lead from the south side of the West Concourse. Platform 13 is a separate platform along the west side of the station, whilst platforms 14 - 15 are an island platform to the east of this.

A new concourse, which we'll call the North Concourse, lies north of the original station providing step-free access to the Westfield Shopping Centre, details of which lie beyond the scope of this survey.

Level -1, Subway Level

There are three subways, which run north/south:

The Middle Subway leads north, down a ramp from the East Concourse, providing stairs and lift access to the London Overground, Mainline and Central Line platforms. there is lift, escalator and stairs access from the north end of this subway to the North Concourse.
• The East Subway leads south from a passage (east/west) between this and the Middle Subway. This subway provides lift access to the Stansted Express platforms 10A and 11, plust additional stairs access to the Mainline and Central Line platforms 3 - 12.
• The West Subway leads north from the West Concourse. There is lift and stairs access between this subway and the concourse. The subway provides lift and stairs access to the London Overground, Mainline and Central Line platforms 1 - 10. There is also lift, escalator and stairs access between the north end of this subway and the North Concourse.

Level 1, Walkway and Platforms

The Level 1 Walkway leads west from the Level 1 Entrance, across tracks 16 and 17 the DLR (Stratford International Branch), to the DLR (Stratford Branch) platforms 4A and 4B. There is lift, stairs and escalator (up only) access to this walkway from the north side of the East and West concourses. There is step-free access to the Central Line westbound platform 3A, plus stairs access to the island platform 3 - 5, from the north side of this walkway.

The Platforms

Platforms 1 - 12

Note that platform 4 has been allocated to the DLR (Stratford Branch), whilst platform 7 no longer exists.

The platforms are arranged, from the south, as follows:

• 3A, north of the Level 1 Walkway
• 3 - 5, island platform, east/west
• 6 - 8, island platform, east/west
• 9 - 10, island platform, east/west
• 10A - 11, island platform, 10A east/west, 11 curves towards north
• 12, separate platform, curving towards north
• 1 - 2, new island platform curving north, step-free access between platform 1 and 12

These platforms are now allocated as follows:

• 3 and 3A, Central Line westbound
• 5, Mainline westbound , Shenfield - Liverpool Street
• 6, Central Line eastbound
• 8, Mainline, Liverpool Street - Shenfield
• 9, Mainline westbound, Braintree, etc. - Liverpool Street
• 10, Mainline eastbound, Liverpool Street - Braintree etc.
• 10A - 12, Stansted Express
• 1 - 2, London Overground

Note that there's step-free access between the Level 1 Walkway and platform 3A and stairs access to platforms 3 - 5. There is also step-free access to platforms 4A and 4B. Lift access to platforms 3 - 5 plus lift and stairs access to other platforms at this level is via the subways.

The DLR (Stratford Branch), Platforms 4A and 4B

This is an island platform leading west from the Level 1 Walkway with platform 4A lying south of platform 4B.

The Jubilee Line, Platforms 13 - 15

These platforms lead sout from the West Concourse. Platform 13 is a separate platform along the west side of the station, whilst platforms 14 - 15 are an island platform with platform 14 lying west of platform 15.

The DLR (Stratford International Branch), Platforms 16 - 17

These are separate platforms running north/south between the East and West concourses. Platform 16, northbound to Stratford International, lies west of platform 17, southbound.

Accessibility

There is stairs and lift access throughout this station. We therefore believe the station is accessible to Guide Dog and wheelchair users.
