From the Central Line, platforms 1 and 2, it is probably easiest to use the exits at the eastern end of the platforms.
From platform 1, go to the rear of the train and continue into the passage. Note the low head room, 2 metres. Go up a flight of stairs to the intermediate level, turn right and left, the escalators to the concourse are in front of you, the left-hand one is normally the one you need.
From platform 2, go to the front of the train and continue forward into the passage. Go up three steps, turn right and go up another flight of stairs before turning left, towards the escalators to the concourse. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need.
From the Northern Line, platforms 3 and 4, locate the escalator exit about half way along either platform, there are three gaps from each platform into the central reservation. The escalator brings you into the south spur of the intermediate level. During peak morning hours you will be able to continue almost straight forward to the far side of this space then turn right towards the escalators to the main concourse. Otherwise, follow the barrier to the left then round to your right to locate the foot of the escalators, the left hand one will normally be the one you need.
From platform 1, cross to platform 2 and turn right towards the front of the eastbound train. Continue into the passage, go up three steps and continue down 2 flights of stairs before turning right. Go down another flight of stairs, follow the right-hand side of the passage to the end then turn right (180 degrees), you're now at the foot of the steps off the end of platform 3.
From Platform 4, ideally take the first passage from the rear of the train, onto platform 3 then turn right.
From platform 3, go to the front of the train, into the passage and go up a flight of stairs. Take the passage on your right which leads to the spiral staircase. Ascend six flights of stairs, going anti-clockwise then follow the passage, up two more flights of stairs into the main concourse. The top of the escalators is to your left.
For exit 1, turn left then left again and continue, through the gates to the exit.
For exit 2, turn left then left again, go through the gates and bear right to locate the exit.
For exit 3, turn left, go through the gates and continue to locate the exit.
For other exits, turn left, go through the gates and bear right to locate the entrance to the subway.
