From Which Platform?

From the Southbound Bakerloo Line, Platform 4
From the Northbound Bakerloo Line, Platform 3
From the Northern Line, Platforms 1 and 2
From the Jubilee Line, Platforms 5 and 6

From the Southbound Bakerloo Line, Platform 4

The doors will open on your left as you face the front of the train. There's tactile paving along the edge of the platform.

Ideally, you should go through the first gap from the front of the train, this gives you step-free access to the intermediate level concourse. Go down the slope, continue to the wall in front of you, turn left then take the turning right into the concourse, the escalators to the Underground concourse are to your right.

If you take the second turning from the front, you go down a slope, then a flight of steps, then continue into the concourse. The escalators to the Underground concourse are to your right. Continue from the Intermediate Level Concourse.

From the Northbound Bakerloo Line, Platform 3

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. There is tactile paving along the edge of the platform.

Ideally, you should go through the second gap from the rear of the train, continue down the slope then go up a flight of steps and continue forward, ignoring the turning to your right, into the intermediate level concourse. The escalators to the Underground concourse are to your right. If you take the first passage from the rear, you go down a flight of steps then up another flight into a passage which veers left. Ignore the turning right, continue to the wall in front of you and turn left. Take the turning right into the concourse. The escalators to the Underground concourse are to your right. Continue from the Intermediate Level Concourse.

From the Northern Line, Platforms 1 and 2

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. There's tactile paving along the edge of these platforms. You should, ideally, go through the second gap from the rear of northbound (front of southbound) trains as this is indicated as the exit. Having gone into the passage, take the turning towards the rear of northbound (front of southbound) trains and go up a flight of steps to the intermediate level. Turn right and continue into the concourse, the escalators to the Underground concourse are to your left.

From here, you have escalator access to the Underground concourse and escalator or stairs access to the Shell Centre exit. If you wish, you also have escalator or lift access to the Jubilee Line concourse, via a long passage with optional travelators.

Via the Underground Concourse

If you've come from the Bakerloo Line turn right, otherwise turn left, towards the escalators. The right-hand escalator is normally the one you need. Go up to the Underground concourse.

For the Mainline Station

Follow the left-hand side, from the top of the escalator. There are two Wide Aisle Gates to your right, the one beyond the slope down is normally the one you'd need, whilst the exit gates are beyond this, in front of the escalators towards the Jubilee Line, towards the far side of the concourse. Go through the gates and follow the left-hand side, avoiding the turning left which is the exit from the Waterloo & City Line, to the escalators to the mainline concourse. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go up to the mainline concourse, you're beside the entrance to platform 18, which is to your right. If you prefer to use the stairs, move beyond the right-hand escalator, there's a wall between this and the foot of the stairs. You go up four flights of steps into the mainline concourse. See our guide to Waterloo Mainline Station for more details.

GO TO END

To the Waterloo & City Line

During peak hours, you'll be able to continue forward, through the gates in front of you, to the steps towards the platform. You go down two flights of steps to platform level then turn left onto the platform, the train wil come from your right, you're near the front of the train.

Otherwise, follow the left-hand side from the top of the escalator. There are two Wide Aisle Gates to your right, the one beyond the slope down would normally be the one you'd need, whilst the exit gates are beyond this, in front of the escalators towards the Jubilee Line, towards the far side of the concourse. Go through the gates, turn right and continue, unfortunately across the flow of traffic, following the gate line, to the wall in front of you then turn left. Take the turning right into the area outside the entrance to the Waterloo & City Line then turn left (180 degrees), go down two flights of steps to platform level then turn left onto the platform. The train will come from your right, you're near the front of the train. See our guide to Waterloo Mainline Station for more details.

GO TO END

To the Shell Centre Exit

If you've come from the Bakerloo Line, turn left, otherwise turn right towards the steps and escalators. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, whilst the steps are between the escalators.

If you use the steps, you go up 11, 5 x 17 then three steps to street level.

There are two gate lines in this concourse, one towards the London Eye, in front of you and the other to your right (180 degrees) onto York Road.

The exit Wide Aisle Gate is at the left-hand of the gate line onto York Road, whilst there are normal automatic exits towards the left-hand end of the gate line in front of you. If you used the automatic gates in front of you, you can go through the gates and turn left towards the London Eye, or turn left again (180 degrees in all) towards York Road.

To the Jubilee Line Concourse

If you've come from the Bakerloo Line turn left, otherwise turn right towards the steps and escalators to the Shell Centre exit. Take the turning right, just before the foot of the escalators and follow the passage, which veers right between the two right turns which you should ignore. Beyond the second turning are two travelators with a walkway between. The right-hand travelator is normally the one you need. Beyond the end of the travelator, take the first turning right into the Jubilee Line interchange. You need to go into the left-hand of two passages on the far side of this area, otherwise you'll find downward escalators in front of you, though the lift would be in a recess to your right.

Go into the left-hand passage and continue up the escalators into the Jubilee Line concourse. The exit gates are in front of you, with the Wide Aisle Gate at the left-hand end of the gate line. Go through the gates.

Waterloo Road is to your left, whilst exit 2 of the mainline station is in front of you, on your right.

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train, there's a barrier along the edge of these platforms with doors which are only open whilst a train is standing at the platform.

At the time of our survey, it wasn't clear which direction was favoured as entrance or exit. There are two passages near each end of each platform into the central reservation from which escalators leave to the intermediate level, the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. The exit to the Jubilee Line concourse, however is nearer the rear of westbound (front of eastbound) trains, so we'll give directions which favour this route.

From the eastbound, go towards the front of the train, ideally go through the last gap before the end of the platform and turn right towards the escalators.

From the westbound, go towards the rear of the train and, ideally go through the second gap before the end of the platform and turn left towards the escalators. Go to the intermediate level.
