Overview

There is stairs and lift access from the District Line and Mainline platforms. There is stairs, esclator and lift access from the Jubilee Line but only stairs and lift access from the DLR platforms to the bridge. There is stairs, escalator and lift access from the bridge to the concourse.

The doors will open on your right as you face the front of the train. There is tactile paving along the edge of all platforms in this station.

From the Jubilee Line, Platforms 1 - 2

As you go from the front of eastbound (or rear of westbound) trains, you pass the gap to the south escalators then the gap for the lift and north escalator and stepss.

As you go from the rear of eastbound (or front of westbound) trains, you pass the gap to the north escalator, steps and lift then the gap to the south escalators.

Via the Steps

The steps are beside the north escalator, you go up three flights of steps onto the bridge.

For the DLR, Platforms 3 - 4

Turn right, then take the turning right and go down three flights of steps to platform level. Platform 3, serving trains towards Beckton or Woolwich Arsenal is to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Platform 4, serving trains towards Bank or Tower Gateway is to your right, we believe you're near the front of the train.

For the District Line or Mainline Platforms

Continue to the wall in front of you, turn right, pass the lift then escalators on your left then turn left and go down three flights of steps into the concourse. Turn immediately right and continue to the wall in front of you then turn left.

For the District Line, Platforms 5 - 6

Continue forward, to the lift, in front of you. Turn right then go up two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 5, serving eastbound trains towards Barking and Upminster is to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Platform 6, serving trains towards Earl's Court and beyond is to your right, we believe you're near the front of the train.

For the Mainline, Platforms 7 - 8

Take the first turning right, into the passage.

Via the First Steps

You go up two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 7, serving eastbound trains towards Grays, Southend or Shoeburyness is to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Platform 8, serving westbound trains towards Fenchurch Street is to your right, we believe you're near the front of longer trains, however, the front of shorter trains may be some distance along the platform.

Via the Second Steps

Continue to the end of the passage, the lift is to your left and the steps are to your right of this. Go up a flight of steps, bear left then right again and go up two flights of steps, onto the platform.

Platform 7, serving eastbound trains towards Grays, Southend or Shoeburyness is to your left, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 8, serving westbound trains towards Fenchurch Street is to your right, we believe you're beside the front half of longer trains. Note that the front of shorter trains may be a little distance further along the platform.

Via the Escalators

Note that there is no escalator access to the other platforms, so these directions are limited to the route from these platforms via the bridge, to the concourse. From the bridge, you can reach the DLR, platform 3 - 4 via lift or steps, whilst the District Line and Mainline platforms can be reached via lift or steps from the concourse.

You can use either the north escalator, beside the steps, or the south escalator.

Via the North Escalator

Go up to bridge level then continue to the wall in front of you.

Via the South Escalator

The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go up to bridge level, move to your left and follow the left-hand side to the wall in front of you.

Turn right, continue past the lift to the DLR then turn left to the escalators. Again, the left-hand one is normally the one you need. Go down to concourse level.

Via the Lifts

The lift is opposite the foot of the steps, the call button is to your left of the door. Go up to bridge level, leave via the other door then turn left (180 degrees) and take the turning right.

To the DLR, Platforms 3 - 4

Follow the left-hand side and find the lift on your left. The call button is to your left of the door.

Go down to platform level, leave via the same door, move right into the passage then continue beyond the end of the barrier on your right, onto the platform.

Platform 3, serving trains towards Beckton or Woolwich Arsenal is to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Platform 4, serving trains toward Bank or Tower Gateway is to your right, we believe you're near the front of the train.

For the District Line and Mainline Platforms

Follow the right-hand side and turn right for the lift to the concourse. The call button is to your left of the door. Go down to concourse level, leave via the other door then turn right (180 degrees).

For the District Line, Platforms 5 - 6

Continue to the lift, in front of you.

The door is in front of you, with the call button to your right of the door. Go up to platform level, leave via the door on your right then continue past the stairwell on your left, onto the platform.

Platform 5, serving eastbound trains towards Barking and Upminster is to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Platform 6, serving westbound trains towards Earl's Court and beyond is to your right, we believe you're near the front of the train.

To the Mainline, Platform 7 - 8

Take the first turning right, into the passage. Keeping left, go to the end of the passage, the lift door is in front of you with the call button on the wall to your left. Go up to platform level and leave via the other door. From the DLR, Platforms 3 - 4

The steps are at the rear of the train on platform 3 (or front of the train on platform 4). The lift is beyond the front of the train on platform 4.

Via the Steps

You go up three flights of steps onto the bridge.

For the Jubilee Line, Platforms 1 - 2

Turn left then take the turning left, towards the Jubilee Line, the up escalator and steps are in front of you, in the middle of this space. You go down three flights of steps to platform level. Platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Stanmore is to your left, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Stratford is to your right, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

To the District Line and Mainline Platforms

Continue forward, the lift door is in front of you, turn right and continue past the escalators on your left then turn left for the steps. You go down three flights of steps to concourse level.

For the District Line, Platforms 5 - 6

Continue forward, to the wall in front of you then turn right and continue to the foot of the steps.

Go up two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 5, serving eastbound trains towards Barking and Upminster is to your left, we believe you're near the rear of the train. Platform 6, serving trains towards Earl's Court and beyond is to your right, we believe you're near the front of the train.

To the Mainline, Platforms 7 - 8

Turn immediately right at the foot of the steps from the bridge and continue to the wall in front of you. Turn left then take the turning right into the passage.

Via the First Steps

Via the Lifts

Continue beyond the front of trains on platform 4, along the short passage then take the turning right then left at the end. The lift is in front of you with the call button to your left of the door. Go up to bridge level, then leave via the same door.

For the Jubilee Line, Platforms 3 - 4

Turn right then take the turning left, towards the Jubilee Line. Keep left, past the up escalator and steps on your right. The lift building is beyond this with the door in the far side, facing the other escalators. The call button is to your right of the door. Go down to platform level and leave via the other door.

Platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Stanmore is to your right, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Stratford is to your left, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

For the District Line and Mainline Platforms

Turn left. Follow the right-hand side and take the turning right towards the lift to the concourse. At the end of the passage, the call button is to your left of the door. Go down to concourse level, leave via the other door then turn right (180 degrees).

For the District Line, Platforms 5 - 6

Continue to the lift, in front of you.

The door is in front of you, with the call button to your right of the door. Go up to platform level, leave via the door on your right then continue past the stairwell on your left, onto the platform.

From the District Line, Platforms 5 - 6

The steps are at the rear of eastbound (or front of westbound ) trains. The lift is beyond the front of westbound trains, off the end of platform 6.

Via the Steps

You go down two flights of steps into the concourse.

For the Jubilee Line and DLR

Bear left (about 10 o'clock), towards the escalators and steps to the bridge. There are three escalators with the steps to your left of these.

You go up three flights of steps onto the bridge then turn right.

To the Jubilee Line, Platforms 1 - 2

Take the second turning left, towards the Jubilee Line, the up escalator and steps are in front of you, in the middle of this space. You go down three flights of steps to platform level. Platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Stanmore is to your left, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Stratford is to your right, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

For the DLR, Platforms 3 - 4

Take the first turning left and go down three flights of steps to platform level. Via the Lift

Continue beyond the front of trains on platform 6. The stairwell is to your right and the lift is in front of you with the call button to your right of the door. Go down to concourse level, leave via the door on your left then continue forward.

For the Jubilee Line and DLR

Pass the passage to the Mainline on your left then turn left (180 degrees) into the recess on your left, to the lift to the bridge. The call button is to your right of the door. Go up to bridge level. Leave via the other door, continue to the end of the short passage then turn left, past the steps and escalators on your right.

For the Jubilee Line, Platforms 1 - 2
Take the second turning left, towards the Jubilee Line. Keep left, past the up escalator and steps on your right. The lift building is beyond this with the door in the far side, facing the other escalators. The call button is to your right of the door. Go down to platform level and leave via the other door.

Platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Stanmore is to your right, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Stratford is to your left, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

To the DLR, Platforms 3 - 4

Take the turning right to the lift to the DLR. The call button is to your left of the door.

Go down to platform level, leave via the same door, move right into the passage then continue beyond the end of the barrier on your right, onto the platform.

From the Mainline, Platforms 7 - 8

The west steps are off the end of the island platform, that is at the rear of eastbound trains on platform 7, or at the front of longer westbound trains on platform 8.

As you go from the rear of eastbound trains, you leave the west steps behind you. The lift is on the far side of the first building, whilst the stairwell for the east steps is beyond this.

At the time of our survey, we noticed a four car westbound train stop at the east half of the platform, some distance from the lift or steps. These are long platforms, which are designed to accommodate longer, mainline services.

Via the Steps

It wasn't clear, at the time of our survey, whether these steps were designated as entrance or exit.

Via the West Steps

You go down two flights of steps to concourse level, continue to the end of the passage.

Via the East Steps

You go down two flights of steps, bear left then right again and go down another flight to concourse level. Continue to the end of the passage.

For the Jubilee Line and DLR

Bear left (about 11 o'clock) and continue beyond the passage to the gate line on your left, so you're beside the steps and escalators to your left. The steps are to your left of the escalators as you face them.

You go up three flights of steps onto the bridge then turn right.

For the Jubilee Line, Platforms 1 - 2

Take the second turning left, towards the Jubilee Line, the up escalator and steps are in front of you, in the middle of this space. You go down three flights of steps to platform level. Platform 1, serving westbound trains towards Stanmore is to your left, we believe you're beside the rear half of the train. Platform 2, serving eastbound trains towards Stratford is to your right, we believe you're beside the front half of the train.

For the DLR, Platforms 3 - 4
