Quantum is a regular at Sight Village - we're one of the few companies specialising in Braille and tactile devices. We'll welcome your visit to our stand, and this year we have some new things to show you!
In 2009 we're proud to announce that we're the UK distributor for Optelec Braille Displays - the Satellite series, the BC640 and the Easylink. We will have all of these beauties on the stand, working with both Windows and Linux - come and try!
Of course we have our flagship the Mountbatten Brailler; come and see it working as an embosser, and doing both forward and back translation without any additional software, or maybe you'd like to play with the music features?
This year sees the inauguration of the Mountbatten Braille Literacy Award. One lucky child from the UK will be awarded a Mountbatten Learning System with all the trimmings, and we'll be announcing the award at Sight Village.
We will be having the usual Show Special on the Jot a Dot; if you've been thinking about one of these, here is your chance to pick one up for £125 instead of the usual £150. And we also have the Piaf for making tactile images, and a good stock of both Zytex and Flexi-paper for visitors to try their hand at making an image.
At some time during the show we hope we'll have a visit from Dr. Tony Sales of RNC, to show Vinux, the Linux distribution with speech and magnification out of the box. Vinux is a Free Software operating system with lots of application software, and it works beautifully with the Optelec displays; drop by on Day 1 and we should be able to tell you when and where to make contact with Dr. Sales.
