The system is split into two lines that follow the same route between Pelaw and South Gosforth.
Platforms are on the left side of the train in the direction of travel except for: Monument (East-West platforms), Northumberland Park, Haymarket, Monument (North-South platforms), Central, Gateshead, Gateshead Stadium, Felling, Pelaw, and South Shields where they are on the right.
At St James’ station trains can terminate with the exit on either left or right hand side of the train. As the train will wait for at least five minutes before departing again you will have plenty of time to leave the train.
N.B. In emergency trains may terminate short of destinations and the doors may not be on the side expected.
