Entrances and Exits

The station has four exits:

• From the main concourse, via five sets of double doors onto the forecourt - the north entrance;
• From the main concourse, via escalators or stairs to the Palisades shopping mall;
• From the main concourse, via five sets of double doors onto the forecourt - the south entrance, which is the preferred route to the taxi rank
• From the Victoria Square concourse, via four sets of double doors onto Navigation Street, which is the preferred exit to Visit RNIB and the BCAB Trainer Certification Scheme, BTSC.

There are emergency exits from platform 12 and the subway. Whilst we did not have access to these during our survey, we presume these emerge onto Station Street.

Details of the Palisades shopping mall lie beyond the scope of our survey.

Location

Station Street runs approximately east/west to the south of the station. You go down four flights of stairs from the forecourt. There are railings and a post on the opposite side of the pavement from the entrance, the post being virtually opposite the foot of the stairs.

From the Victoria Square exit, you leave the station facing west. Navigation Street runs almost north/south across you. There's a Pelican crossing to your left with an audible signal, but no rotating cone. The push button for this crossing is to your right of the tactile paving.

Local Buses

There are four bus stops on the near (north) side of Station Street, two to the east, two to the west of the entrance. Each stop has a shelter towards the road side of the pavement. We'll list these from west to east.

• JC: buses 15, 17, 99 777;
• JD: 31, 37, 37a, 41, 5n, 37n;
• JE: buses to Kings Heath, 2 35s, 12 35, 50n, 54a;
• JF: 61, 62, 62a 63 63a 84 85a, 145 621 x80.

We're advised that the 126, for the Hagley Road, passing the venue for Sight Village leaves from stop JA, which we presume lies to the west of the above.
