The subway joins all platforms via lifts. Whilst there are stairs opposite each lift, these didn't appear to be available for public use.
The passage runs north/south, under platforms 1 - 11, then veers slightly east towards the lift for platform 12. This lift is the only one with a west facing door, that for platforms 10 - 11 is the only one with call buttons to your left of the door, those to platforms 6 - 7 and 8 - 9 are the only ones which reach the station forecourt.
There is an emergency stairs exit to Station Street at the south end of the passage, which is also not normally available to the public.
As you emerge from the lift from platform 12, facing west, the emergency exit is to your left, (about 11 o'clock), follow the right hand wall round into the main passage.
