Assistance

Note, you can pre-book assistance from your train, if you buy your tickets in advance.

People requiring assistance are advised to go to the Station Reception and First Aid office on platform 1. As you enter via the main entrance, turn right, pass the door to British Transport Police, a kiosk and the steps down to the gents toilets. Go through the door, the reception desk is in front of you.

You can reach the concourse from platforms 1 - 9, by going beyond the front of the arriving train. From platforms 13 - 14, follow the path via platform 12. Note that platforms 10 - 14 are now within the gated area.

From platforms 15 - 16, serving the London Underground Hammersmith & City Line, you have to use the bridge to reach the concourse. The bridge lies about six carriage lengths northwest of the concourse.

Via the Concourse

Go beyond the front of the arriving train into the concourse, there's tactile paving near the edge of each mainline platform. as you face the concourse, the lower numbered platforms are to your right.

Note that the tracks for platforms 11 and 12 extend some distance beyond those of platforms 1 to 9. We recommend that, to reach platform 12, you cross the concourse, turn left and follow the concourse round to the left-hand (northeast) side, before turning left onto the platform. Note that platforms 10-12 are now within the gated area.

To reach platforms 13 and 14, continue along platform 12 and take the turning to the right, then left. Folllow the path, which veers left then right, onto platform 13. Platform 14 is to your right, you're at the rear of departing trains.

Note: platforms 15 and 16, serving the London Underground Hammersmith & City Line can only be reached via the bridge.

From the London Underground, Hammersmith & City Line

The doors open on your right as you face the front of the train.

From the westbound, platform 15, go towards the rear of the train (front from eastbound, platform 16) and locate the steps up to the bridge, in the middle of the island platform. Go up two flights of steps onto the bridge and turn right.

The first turning on your right is for the steps down to platforms 13 and 14. Go down two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 13 is to your left, you're near the rear of the departing train.

For Platform 12, turn left (180 degrees) at the foot of the steps on platform 13 and continue, following the path which veers left then right again, before the right turn onto the platform, near the front of departing trains.

The second turning on your right is for platforms 10 and 11, go down two flights of steps to platform level, platform 10 is to your left.

For lower numbered platforms, veer left beyond the turning to platforms 10 and 11 and go through the gates. The manual gate is to your right and the automatic exits immediately left of these. turn right onto the main bridge. As you continue you pass:

From Platforms 1 to 9 Via the Bridge

The main bridge is towards the effective northwest end of each of these platforms. There are two flights of steps, from platform 1, 2 - 3, 4 - 5, 6 - 7 and platform 8. There's a ramp from platform 9, though there are five steps, in all, from the top of this onto the bridge.

As you face onto the bridge, the lower numbered platforms are to your left. There are two flights of steps down to platform 1, 2 - 3, 4 - 5, 6 - 7 and 8. As you reach the island platforms, the lower numbered platform is to your right, you're near the front of the train.

Although you can eventually walk through from platform 8 to 9, you could take the last turning on your right from the main bridge, go down two steps, turn right, down three then turn left and go down the ramp onto platform 9, near the rear of departing trains.

To Platforms 10 and 11

Having reached the bridge, turn right and follow the walkway left. The gate line is in front of you with the manual gate to your left and the automatic entrances at the right-hand end of the gate line. Go through the gates and turn right onto the small bridge. Take the first turning left and go down two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 10 is to your left, you're near the front of departing trains.

To Platform 12

Having reached the bridge, turn right and follow the walkway left. The gate line is in front of you with the manual gate to your left and the automatic entrances at the right-hand end of the gate line. Go through the gates and turn right onto the small bridge. Take the first turning left, go down two flights of steps onto platforms 13 - 14 and turn left (180 degrees). Follow the path, which veers lef then right, then take the right turn onto platform 12, you're near the front of departing trains.

To Platforms 13 - 16

For platforms 15 - 16, take the third (last) turning left and go down two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 15, westbound, is to your left, you're near the rear of the train. Platform 16, eastbound is to your right, you're near the front of the train.

From Platforms 10 and 11 Via the Bridge

The steps for the bridge are towards the effective northwest end of the platforms. Go up two flights of steps, towards the concourse, onto the bridge.

Having reached the bridge, turn left.

For Platforms 13 - 14, take the first turning left, go down two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 13 is to your left, you're at the rear of departing trains.

For platforms 15 - 16, take the second turning left and go down two flights of steps onto the platform. Platform 15, westbound, is to your left, you're near the rear of the train. Platform 16, eastbound is to your right, you're near the front of the train.

From Platform 12 Via the Bridge

As you move away from the concourse, take the turning right, then left. Follow the path, which veers left then right, onto platform 13.

From Platforms 13 and 14 Via the Bridge

Locate the steps, near the southeast end of the platform and go up two flights of steps (towards the concourse) onto the bridge.
