The station is located to the west of Mill Road, which runs north/south beside the foot bridge at the east end of the station. The nearest significant roads are Dumbarton Road to the south and Barnes Street to the north.
Yokerburn Terrace leads west from Mill Road, to the south of the bridge, towards the car park and an entrance to platform 2. Hamilton Street leads north from Dumbarton Road, towards the bridge to the west of the station, whilst Bell Street runs east/west past the path from the north end of this bridge. White Street leads north from Bell Street to Barnes Street.
The station has five entrances/exits:
Yokerburn Terrace leaves Mill Road, south of the station, leading west. Follow the pavement, which curves right (north), to the fence, move left to locate the gate, leading north into the station. The steps to the east bridge are to your right, you're at the east end of the platform, near the rear of the train. Note that the gate is in the northeast corner of the car park.
Locate the gap in the railings on the west side of Mill Road then go up two steps, going west. Continue west, down one step then turn right for platform 1 and turn left at the end, left for platform 2 and turn right at the end, go down two flights of steps to platform level.
The path leads west from the gap in the fence, north of the east bridge. There’s a fence on each side. The path slopes down as you continue west. Turn left at the bottom towards platform 1, you're near the front of the train. The front of the train is almost opposite the steps to the bridge.
Follow the right-hand of the two paths, which leads northeast. The path has a fence on each side. You go down the slope before following the path to your right (east). You pass six lamp posts to your right, before the path slopes up onto the west end of platform 2. You're beyond the front of the train, the rear of the train is almost opposite the steps from the east bridge.
Follow the path leading south from a point a few metres west of the junction with White Street. Take the turning left, this is slightly offset north from the foot of the steps from the west bridge. The path leads southeast with a fence to each side. You pass a lamp post on your right before the path turns left, east. You then pass five lamp posts on your left before you reach the low wall to your left. You pass another lamp post on your left before the path turns left then almost immediately right, then up a slope to platform level. At the top of the slope, move right onto the west end of platform 1, which runs east from here. You're beyond the rear of the train, the front of the train will be opposite the foot of the steps from the east bridge.
This is a traffic light controlled crossing with a sounder and rotating cones, though the cones on the northwest corner of this junction were damaged at the time of our survey.
The push button is to your right as you cross in either direction, there was no tactile paving at the time of our survey.
The crossing is a few metres east of Mill Road. There’s tactile paving at each side of Dumbarton Road and on the central island. The push button, with rotating cone is to your right as you cross in either direction. There’s also a button to each side of the island, we assume that the right-hand one is the one you use. As both lanes of traffic are halted simultaneously, this could be treated as a single stage crossing.
The crossing is a few metres west of Mill Road. There’s tactile paving at each side of Dumbarton Road and on the central island. The push button, with rotating cone is to your right as you cross in either direction. There’s also a button to each side of the island, we assume that the right-hand one is the one you use. As both lanes of traffic are halted simultaneously, this could be treated as a single stage crossing.
There's a series of width restrictions along this road to slow traffic and facilitate crossing. One such is at the end of White Street.
As you continue, going north on White Street, you cross McGregor Street, running east/west, before you reach Barnes Street which is the major Road running east/west, to the north of the station.
Turning left (west) from White Street, you cross a side street before you reach the nearest bus stop on the south side of Barnes Street.

There's a width restriction in Barnes Street, across the end of White Street, which makes crossing easier. Cross Barnes Street, turn left (west) and continue to the stop.

As you move south along the west side of Mill Road, you cross Yokerburn Terrace then Clydeholm Terrace before reaching the bus stop.
The stop has a shelter, no bus details were displayed at the time of our survey.
We found no bus stops on the east side of Mill Road, though the routes appear to continue into Dumbarton Road and turn left.
