From the Bus Station

The Euston bus station lies about 50 metres south of the mainline station and, as such is beyond the scope of this survey.

We recommend that you go to the northeast corner of the bus station, next to the Doric Arch Bar Restaurant and follow this path north, towards the station. The wall on the left, decreases from about 1 metre to 20 cm in height then curves round to the left (west). Turn right here and cross a dip in the paving and continue to the wall of the station. Enter via one of the doors in front of you. You're in the southeast corner of the mainline concourse.

Turn left and locate the second building on your right. The escalators between the mainline and Underground concourse is in the east side (facing you) of this building. The downward escalator is on your left, alternatively, there are stairs between the down and up escalators.

At the foot of the escalator, turn right and follow the passage into the underground concourse.

Continue Through the Concourse

From the Mainline Station

The mainline platforms at Euston station run approximately north/south. Although most of these are island platforms, numbered in ascending order from the east, there are only five ramps into the mainline concourse, serving: platforms 1 - 3, 4 - 7, 8 - 11, 12 - 15 and 16 - 18.

Although all these ramps enter the north side of the mainline concourse, the exits from the suburban section, platforms 8 - 11 also have stairs to the underground concourse.

The top of the escalators and stairs between the mainline and underground concourses is located near the middle of the southern side of the mainline concourse, virtually opposite the exit from the suburban section. As this can be quite difficult to find, particularly when the station is crowded it may be easier to enter the underground concourse via the stairs from the suburban section.

To do this, establish which platform you're leaving as you enter the mainline concourse. For 1 - 7 turn right; for 12 - 18 left and locate the entrance to platforms 8 - 11. Go down the slope to the exit from the suburban section. Turn left (180 degrees) and locate the stairs.

If you arrived via the suburban services you will probably already be on platforms 8 - 11 though these trains do not always arrive here. Go through the gates from the suburban section (the manual gate is on your right) then continue, bearing slightly right to reach the stairs.

Visit our guide to Euston Mainline Station for more details.

Go down two flights of stairs and continue down the sloping passage. At the bottom, turn right into the underground concourse and continue to the main entrance passage on your left. Turn right here to buy tickets or locate the entrance gates.

Continue Through the Concourse

From the Taxi Rank

The taxi will normally stop outside the entrance to the mainline station which contains an assistance point which is often manned, though you can phone for assistance if necessary.

To locate the underground station, I suggest that, rather than going through the mainline concourse, you use the entrance to the underground which is adjacent to the car park.

On leaving the taxi, continue along the pavement, down a slope and locate the entrance on your left. If you reach a blank wall, you've overshot. turn left (180 degrees), go down two flights of stairs, turn left then right again to enter the passage to the underground concourse. Continue up a slope till you meet a blank wall at the top. Turn right here, pass the escalators from the mainline concourse to your right. Continue along the passage and through the concourse.

From the Lifts

See the Lifts page for details.

You can reach the Underground concourse from the mainline concourse and taxi rank, though there are currently no other lifts within the Underground station.

From either the mainline concourse or taxi rank, go down to the Underground concourse (Level0), leave the lift, move to the right-hand side of the passage and continue into the concourse.

If you have a valid ticket or pass, move to your right, away from the ticket sales booths, to locate the barrier on your right then continue forward towards the entrance gates, in front of you. The Wide Aisle Gate is at the left-hand end of this gate line.

Go THROUGH THE GATES

If you don't have a valid pass or ticket, you can continue forward, between two rails, to the manned ticket sales booths. These have audio announcements and signs indicating which window to use. Having bought your ticket, turn right. There's a Wide Aisle Gate in front of you and the automatic entrances are to your right of these.

Move to your left and follow the wall on your left to reach the down escalator to the intermediate level.

Go down to the intermediate level. Note there is no stairs alternative, unless of course, one of the escalators is turned off.
