FIND A PLATFORM FROM A MAINLINE TRAIN |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
The mainline platforms at Euston station run approximately north/south, most of these are island platforms numbered in ascending order from the east. The islands are joined by a concourse which runs across the southern end of each. Whilst an upward slope from most island platforms brings you directly to the main concourse, the exits from the suburban section, platforms 8 - 11 share a single ramp to the main concourse and stairs to the underground concourse.
The top of the escalators and stairs between the main and underground concourses is located near the middle of the southern side of the main concourse, virtually opposite the exit from the suburban section. As this can be quite difficult to find, particularly when the station is crowded it may be easier to enter the underground concourse via the stairs from the suburban section.
To do this, establish which platform you're leaving as you enter the concourse. For 1 - 7 turn right; for 12 and above left and locate the entrance to platforms 8 - 11. Go down the slope to the exit from the suburban section. Turn left (180 degrees) and locate the stairs.
If you arrived via the Silverlink County or Metro services you will probably already be on platforms 8 - 11 though these trains do not always arrive here. Go through the gates from the suburban section (the manual gate is on your right) then continue, bearing slightly right to reach the stairs.
Descend two flights of stairs and continue down the sloping passage. At the bottom, turn left into the underground concourse and continue to the far side of the main entrance passage on your left. Turn right here to buy tickets or locate the entrance gates.
