Lines Served

This is a through station on the London Underground (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan) and Thameslink lines. This station offers a much simpler connection between the London Underground and Thameslink services than does Kings Cross.

Layout

The lines run approximately east/west serving four separate platforms, numbered, from north to south, as follows

• 1 - London Underground, eastbound towards Liverpool Street
• 2 - London Underground, westbound, towards Kings Cross
• 3 - Thameslink, southbound, towards East Croydon (trains run east)
• 4 - Thameslink, northbound, towards Luton (trains run west).

The Thameslink platforms lie approx 1.5 metres lower than those of the London Underground.

The concourse is located on a bridge across both lines towards the east end of the station. Another bridge joins all platforms near the west end. Four flights of stairs join the Westbound London Underground, platform 2 to the Southbound Thameslink, platform 3.

Note that there are stairs and a slope from platform 1 which are not intended for public use.

We understand that people are expected to circulate anti-clockwise through the station.

• There are three sets of stairs between platform 1 and the concourse. The one in line with the platform is the way out, whilst the other two, offset into passages from the platform, are entrances.
• The right hand side of the middle stairs from the concourse are the entrance to platforms 2 and 3, whilst the left hand side is the way out. To reach platform 3, you should move along platform 2 and go down the stairs in the second gap in the wall.
• When changing from platform 2 to 3 near the west bridge, you should go down the stairs nearest the bridge onto platform 3.
• When changing from platform 3 to 2 near the west bridge, you should go up the set of stairs which lead away from the bridge, onto platform 2.

• The stairs between platform 4 and the concourse are to the way out and the entrance to this platform is via the west bridge.

Accessibility

there is stairs-only and no step-free access throughout this station.
