Overview

There are ten lifts in this station:

Each lift has clearly marked call buttons and controls. A tone signal or spoken announcement is given as the lift approaches and there are clearly spoken announcements within the lifts themselves.

Inside the lifts, the level select buttons are above the Alarm, Open and Close doors buttons and there is an Alarm button near floor level.

Lift A, Between levels 1 and 0 of St Pancras Station and level -1

At Level 1

The lift is between the two sets of escalators on the south side of the area opposite the HS1 platforms 12 - 14. The call button (down) is to your right (west) of the door, you go in facing south.

At Level 0

The lift is inside the northeast entrance, to your right as you come in via the step-free entrance or in front of you if you use the steps. The call buttons (Up and Down) are to your right (east) of the door as you face the lift, you go in facing north.

At Level -1

The lift is on the right-hand (northeast) side of the passage leading towards St Pancras Station,jutting out from the wall. The call button (up only) is to your right (east) of the dorr as you face the lift, you go in facing north.

Inside the Lift

The control panel has the level select (1, 0 and -1) above the open and close doors. The Alarm button is below these. There's also an Alarm button near floor level.

Lift B, Between the Northern Concourse and King's Cross Suburban

At Level 0

As you come in from Pancras Road, the lift is to your right (south) at the end of a short passage beside the steps down.

As you leave the suburban section of King's Cross Station, you pass the top of the steps to your left before turning left towards the lift.

The call button (down only) is to your right of the door, you go in facing southeast.

At Level -1

As you face the ticket sales windows, turn left and continue, past the foot of the steps on your right then turn right towards the lift. The call button (up only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing northwest.

Inside the Lift

The controls are immediately to your right as you go in at either level. As you face the panel, these are arranged in three rows:

Lift C, Between King's Cross Mainline Station and the Level -1 Passage

At Level 0 (Concourse Level)

The lift is at the west end of a short passage to your left (south) of the steps to Level -1. The call button (down only) is to your right, you go in facing west.

At Level -1 (the passage)

The lift is on the east side of the passage, at the foot of the first downward ramp from the Tube Concourse. the lift itself is in a small recess with blank doors to your right (south and southwest). The call button (up only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing east.

The controls are on your right as you go in at either level, in three rows:

Lift D, In the Tube Concourse, between Level 0, -1 and -2

At Level 0

The lift is on the west side of the forecourt, beside (north of) the steps down to Level -1. The call button (down only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing west.

At Level -1

The lift is on the east side of the concourse, between the steps leading to street level and steps to the Level -2. The call buttons (up and down) are to your right of the door, you go in facing east.

At Level -2

The lift is in the southwest corner of the concourse, beside the steps to the Level -1. The call button (up only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing west.

Inside the Lift

The control buttons are on each side. As you face the panel, these are arranged in rows:

There’s also an alarm button at low level.

Note that Level -1 is announced as "Upper Ticket Hall" and Level -2 is announced as "Lower Ticket Hall". The actual ticket sales facilities are all on the -1 level, whilst Level -2 includes the gate line and escalators to the lower platforms.

Lift E, In the Western Concourse, between Level 0 and -1

At Level 0

The lift is on the west side of the atrium around the concourse, just left (north) of the steps to the -1 level.

The call button (down only) is to your left (north) of the door. You go in facing east.

At Level -1

The lift is in the northwest corner of the concourse, reached via a short passage beside (north of) the steps to Level 0.

The call button (up only) is to your right (north) of the door. You go in facing west.

Lift F, In the Metropolitan Line platforms, between Level -1 and -2

At Level -1

The lift is in the southwest corner of this space, beside (south of) the steps leading to platform level. You go along a short passage leading west, down a slight slope towards the door. The call button (down only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing west.

At Platform Level

The lift is located in the southeast corner of the west section of the central reservation. You go along a short passage leading east. The call button (up only) is to your right of the door, you go in facing east.

Inside the Lift

As you enter the lift, the control buttons are on the north side of the lift, that is to your right at Level -1, left at Level -2.

As you face the panel, these are arranged in rows:

Lift G, Between the Tube Concourse, Level -2 and the Northern Line, Level -3

In the Tube Concourse

Go through the gates and follow the left-hand wall. Turn left into the recess and find the lift door on your right. The call button (down) is to your right of the door as you face the lift. You go in facing east.

At Platform Level, Level -3

The lift is in the recess leading south from the passage from the foot of the escalators from the Piccadilly Line level, which come in at the east end of the platforms.

The call button (Up) is to your right (north) of the door as you face the lift, you go in facing west.

There's a control panel on each side of the lift. The buttons are arranged in four rows:

Note, at the time of our survey, the "Up" button was labelled "-1". This is incorrect as the top of this lift is at Level -2. We have drawn this to the attention of TFL staff.

Lift H, In the Northern Concourse, between Level -1 and -2

At Level -1

The lift is at the south end of a passage to your right of the escalators to the Level -2. The call button (down only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing south.

At Level -2

The lift is in the northwest corner, to the left of the escalators to Level -1. The call button (up only) is to your right of the door, you go in facing north.

The controls are immediately to your right as you go in at either level. As you face the panel, these are arranged in three rows:

Lift J, Between Level -2 and the Piccadilly Line

At Level -2

The lift is on the right-hand (south) side of the passage leading from the foot of the escalators from the Northern Concourse towards the Piccadilly and Victoria lines. The lift is opposite the escalators to platform level. The call button (down only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing south.

At Platform Level

The lift is in the third passage from the far (north) end of the platforms. The call button (up only) is to your left of the door, you go in facing north.

Inside the Lift

The controls are immediately to your right as you go in at either level. As you face the panel, these are arranged in three rows:

Lift K, Between Level -2 and the Victoria Line

At Level -2

The lift is at the west end of the short passage to the left of the steps leading to your right as you come away from the Northern Concourse. Note that there's another set of steps leading left, these are the original Pentonville Road entrance. The call button (down only) is on the wall to your right, just before the door, you go in facing west.

At Platform level

The lift is in the second passage from the far (east) end of the platform, at the end of a passage to your right of the steps up to Level -2. The call button (up only) is on the wall to your right, just before the door, you go in facing east.
