The passage from the foot of the spiral stairs leads north, then turns left (west) to a cross junction. To the left (south) "carnet validator and way out", right (north) "no entry". Continue west to a T-junction, left (south), descending 17 stairs and a slight slope into the passage at the north end of platform 1, northbound. To reach the southbound, continue along platform 1 and turn left into the first passage for platform 2.
To reach the suburban railway, turn right (north) at the T-junction, along a slightly winding and echoing passage, up 18 then 18 steps to a T-junction. Turn left onto platform 3, northbound to Welwyn Garden City and Letchworth, right onto platform 4, southbound to Moorgate. The details of these platforms lie beyond the scope of the current survey.
The first passage on your right from the spiral stairs is the exit from the suburban railway, the details of which lie beyond the scope of our current survey.
The first passage on your left "Carnet Validator and way out", runs south with billboards and blank doors on both sides. There are two openings on your left, separated by a pillar, leading towards the foot of the pair of escalators to the ticket hall. Turn left (east) then left (north) to the foot of the pair of escalators, both of which are normally ascending.
The exit is near the middle of the island platform, being via the second or fourth passage from the north end. You ascend into a passage from which two passages leave east then turn left (northeast) towards the foot of the pair of escalators.
From the second passage, turn south and ascend 17 then 12 steps, going south to the lower concourse. Continue south before taking either of the two passages on your left (east).
From the fourth passage, turn north then go up two flights of steps to the lower concourse. Continue north and take either of the passages to your right (east).
To reach the entrance; near the south end of the island platform, continue (south) from the foot of the single escalator, to the corner then turn right (west) then left south. Descend 16 then 15 steps onto the island platform. Platform 1, northbound, is on your right, you're near the rear of the train; platform 2 on your left, you're near the front of the train.
