THE WEST LIFT |
DESCRIBE ONLINE |
Note this lift is only designed for three people.
The most likely route to this lift wasn't available to us at the time of our survey, though we suggest you may be able to go down the steps to the right (west) of the main stairs, go through a door on your right, continue to the wall before turning left. Go through the door on your right then through another door on your left into the area outside the lift. This suggestion is based on the general symmetry of the building and our survey of the route to the east lift.
You may need to reach this lift as, unlike the east lift, it stops at the mezzanine floor where Hall A is located. You could, of course, go through the library, or come down from the first floor.
Details of the route from the lift at mezzanine floor level to Hall A were not available at the time of our survey, but we suggest there would be a corridor running back (north) to the landing.

steps down to basement, about two metres from the lift door |
beyond the scope of our survey |
lift, call buttons to the right of the door |
The door leading south from the ante room to Room F3 leads via a short passage with blank doors to the area outside the west lift. This area can also be entered from the door in the southwest corner of the balcony, you'd enter facing west.
door from balcony |
west lift, with call buttons to your right as you face the door fire exit, continue south to stairs |
door to ante room of Lodge Room 4, not included in the exhibition space |
door from the passage from Room F3 |
You enter from the north on the first floor and from the south on the ground.
The buttons inside the lift are located to the east of the south door. These have no tactile marking, but are from the bottom: basement, ground mezzanine, 1 and 2.
