LEVEL 0, THE GROUND FLOOR

DESCRIBE ONLINE

Overview

From the north side of Morrison Street, you go under a canopy then either through one of two revolving doors or the access door to your left (west) of these. There’s a push button to your right (east) of the access door. Note that this access door opens automatically from the inside.

You go onto tactile flooring then onto carpet. The Strathblane Hall is in front of you, whilst the Concierge Desk is to your left (west). The area to your right of the entrance is often blocked by a portable barrier. This area is staffed during events.

The Concierge Desk

The Concierge Desk is a semi-circular desk, which juts north into the Strathblane Hall. There’s a display case of EICC souvenirs for sale behind the desk.

As you follow the desk round (west then south), you come onto Marble flooring. The escalators are to your left. The one to Level 1 is north of that to Level -1. The direction of these escalators varies according to demand. There’s a glass wall in front (south) of this area, followed by display cabinets.

The Strathblane Hall

This is the area between the Main Entrance (south) and the two ends of the Level 0 Passage (north). The Strathblane hall itself contained a range of portable furniture at the time of our survey.

In the middle of this area are four large pillars, the space between which is quite often used as the Delegate Registration Area.

Beyond the recess to the escalators, the left-hand wall curves to your right as you approach the west end of the passage.
