Overview

This is an island platform, with a central reservation, running north/south with platform 9, serving trains towards Lewisham or Woolwich Arsenal, lying east of platform 10, signed alighting only. There is tactile paving along the edge of each platform.

To Reach

These platforms can be reached via lift, escalator or stairs from the Intermediate Level, via escalator or stairs from the westbound, platform 1 of Monument Station, or via stairs from the Northern Line, platforms 3 - 4.

Note that platform 10 is signed alighting only, so these directions are limited to routes to platform 9.

From the Intermediate Level

You can leave the Intermediate Level via escalator, steps or lift.

Via the Escalator

The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go down to DLR level then take the turning left onto platform 9, near the rear of the train.

Via the Steps

You go down 14, 3 x 15 then 14 steps, going south to DLR level, then take the turning left onto platform 9, near the rear of the train.

Via the Lift

Take the turning left, before the top of the downward escalators and find the lift door on your right. The call button is to your right of the door, go down to DLR level then leave via the other door. Continue to the end of the passage then take the first turning left onto platform 9, near the rear of the train.

From Monument Station

You can reach the DLR platforms via escalator or stairs from the entrance/exit area on platform 1, westbound.

Via Escalators

Although the downward escalators were being refurbished at the time of our survey, we understand the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need. You go down to a passage which veers left then right again before you reach the second set of escalators. From here, you go down to the south end of the central reservation between the DLR platforms. Take the first turning right onto platform 9, near the front of the train.

Via the Steps

You go down 13, 4 x 14, then 13 steps, going northwest into the passage between the two sets of escalators. There’s a long rail before and after these steps which are between escalators.

Continue northwest, the passage veers left (west) with billboards each side. The passage turns right (north) before you reach the second set of escalators, which have central steps leading down north, to the DLR.

You go down 6 x 14 steps, going north. There’s a long rail before and after these steps. Take the first turning right onto platform 9, near the front of the train.

From the Northern Line

From the first gap beyond the foot of the escalators from Monument Station, turn away (north) from the escalators then go down 3 x 11 steps, going north. There's a help point on your right beyond the foot of these steps. Take the turning left (west) then left again (south) and go down 16 steps, going south, into the reservation between the DLR platforms. Take the turning left onto platform 9, near the front of the train.

To Leave

We understand you'll arrive on platform 10, signed alighting only. There's a gap near the front of the train (north) from which you can turn left towards the escalators, steps or lift to the Intermediate Level. There's another gap near the rear of the train (south) from where you can turn right towards the steps and escalators towards Monument Station, or bear left for the steps towards the Northern Line.

To the Intermediate Level

Leave the platform via the gap near the front of the train then turn left (north). The escalators, with central steps, are in front of you, the passage to the lift is to your right of these.

Via the Escalators

The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need, go up (north) to the Intermediate Level

Via the Steps

You go up 14, 3 x 15 then 14 steps, going north, to the Intermediate Level.

Via the lift

Move to your right (east) of the escalators then continue (north) along the passage. The lift is at the end of this passage, with the call button (Up) to your left (west) of the door. Go up to the Intermediate Level then leave via the other door.

To Monument Station

Leave the platform near the rear of the train, go into the central reservation and turn right (south), towards the first set of escalators. The left-hand escalator is normally the one you need and there are central steps (up 6 x 14 steps, going south).

Continue (south) from the top of the escalators. The passage veers left then right again before you reach the second set of escalators. Again, the left-hand escalator is normally the one you need and there are central steps (up 13, 4 x 14, then 13 steps going south) to platform level.

To the Northern Line

Leave the platform near the rear of the train, cross the central reservation then turn left (north) before the entrance to platform 9, in front of you.

Go up 16 steps, going north and, turn right (east), There's a help point in front of you. Turn left again (north) and go up 3 x 11 steps, going north to platform level. You're in the second gap from the escalators towards Monument Station. Turn left (west) for platform 3, southbound or right (east) for platform 4, northbound.

The Central Reservation

This is a passage running north from the foot of the steps and escalators from Monument Station, between the platforms, to the foot of the escalator and steps to the Intermediate Level. A passage runs north, east of the escalators, to the lift.
